Fibroblastic Repair Phase Rehabilitation 

Weeks 2-3: 

  • Progress to weight bearing as tolerated 

  • 4-way ankle with theraband 

  • Stretching 

  • Joint mobilizations

  • Toe scrunches (Towel with weight)

  • Maintain cardiovascular fitness by utilizing a stationary bike and swimming

  • Wall-sits

  • Single-leg balance on therapad 

  • Electrical stimulation

  • Massage

  • Core strengthening on exercise ball (12)

Weeks 3-6

  • Continue with core strengthening including: crunches, planks, leg raises, etc.

  • BAPS board (multiplanar) 

  • Maintain cardiovascular fitness 

  • Stretching 

  • Single-leg bosu balance 

  • Single-leg step downs

  • Calf raises

  • Monster walks (forward and lateral)

  • Weighted knee extensions 

  • Weighted leg raises

  • Cup pick-up

  • Kettlebell deadlift

  • Single-leg balance on bosu with perturbations

  • Leg press 

  • Ball handling (between legs and behind back)

  • Passing shuffles with theraband around the ankles to decrease cadence (this should be done with another teammate)

 

Objectives Covered:

  • Increase muscular strength

  • Increase muscular speed

  • Increase muscular endrance

  • Maintain cardiovascular endurance

  • Restore fine motor skills such as grasping objects with toes
